Scarborough A/B Gala

Final Information

There are over 350 swimmers involved from 16 clubs.

Pool Details: Scarborough Sports Village, 5 Ashburn Road, Scarborough, YO11 2JW

This is located west of Oliver’s Mount and is signed from the A64 and Valley Road; it is behind the two University buildings.

There is a very large car park. Please note other activities will be taking place in the Sports Village over the weekend.

Access is from 6.30pm on Friday and 7.40am on Saturday and Sunday.

After entering through the main door, the pool and spectator gallery are immediately on the left.

Swimmers and Team Managers should descend the stairs to the changing area.

Outdoor shoes MUST be removed at the bottom of the stairs BEFORE entering the changing area.

Swimmers must NOT bring bags onto poolside or pass them up to the balcony; bags must be left in the lockers in the changing rooms (new £1 coin, refundable).

There are 215 lockers, some of which are very large and can be shared by two or three people.

The pool is deck level with full anti-wave lane ropes. There is ample seating around the pool for swimmers. Do NOT sit on top of the lockers

Anyone wishing to take photographs or use any digital recording device in the building MUST register, prior to use, at the front desk in the main entrance each day.

Spectators: There is a capacity of 246 seats on the spectator gallery. The stairways on the gallery must be kept clear at all times. There is no room on the gallery for swimmers or their bags!

Team Managers must collect their club pack on arrival at the pool as this contains:
• ID badges for Team Managers and swimmers, plus safety pins
• Weekend programmes
• An entry list for each session. These entry lists must be returned to the Race Office (at the deep end of the pool) by the specified time clearly showing who is(√), and who is not(X), swimming in each session.

ID Badges: Everyone on poolside must clearly display their ID badge. It is best for swimmers to have it clipped/pinned to their poolside T-shirt/top.

In each session, events will be re-seeded following return of club entry lists.

When leaving the poolside/changing area swimmers must wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

Use of the small pool is forbidden as there is no lifeguard cover for this area.

Marshalling for Events: For all events this will take place alongside the small pool. Heats will not be held for missing swimmers; swimmers should report one event prior to their event or when called by the announcer. The area between the two pools is for Official use only.

Please note that over the top starts will be used in as many events as possible.

Lunch for officials and team managers is provided in the function room on both Saturday and Sunday.

Swimmers should collect their medals/awards from the table at the deep end of the pool once event results are announced / displayed. Swimmers going faster than their improvement time will get a special “Too Speedy” medal.

Each group’s pool time will start with continuous swimming; swimmers must enter the water carefully and without diving. It will conclude with starts & sprints in some lanes. Swimmers congregating in the water at the lane ends will be told to leave the warm up.
